Roman Kelemen
is a Slovak film editor and filmmaker, and a member of the Association of Slovak Film Editors (ASFS). He studied Film Studies and Audiovisual Culture at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, before continuing his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he graduated from the Editing department and completed his doctoral studies. He currently works at the Academy as a lecturer.
His work focuses primarily on film editing across a variety of formats and genres. His filmography includes feature films, short films, documentaries, television documentary series, as well as commercial and music video productions.
In 2026, he received the Sun in a Net Award for Best Film Editing for the feature film Nepela.
The documentary The Sailor (2021) premiered at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto and went on to receive the Best Documentary award at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Best Feature Film award at the 33rd edition of the Igric National Creative Awards. The film was also nominated for a Sun in a Net Award for Best Documentary.
His projects, including short films such as The Exam, A Warm Comedy About Depression, Madness and Unfulfilled Dreams, and M, have been presented and recognized at international film festivals across Europe and beyond, including festivals in South Korea, Poland, Croatia, France, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Germany, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Italy, and Slovenia. Among the awards received are Best Film - East Wave at the Beast International Film Festival in Porto and Best Fiction Film at the Tirana Film Festival.
